Do you ever feel like your emotions take you for a ride?

DBT Stands for Dialectical Behavior Therapy and it’s appropriate for those who struggle with:

  • Self-Harm

  • Depression

  • Anxiety

  • Emotionally Driven Behavior

  • Anger Difficulties

  • Substance Use

  • Suicidal Tendencies

  • Relationship Conflicts

DBT helps through the process of learning and practicing emotional and cognitive skills, then applying them in real life. DBT tackles distressing and overwhelming emotions and it helps you control your emotions, when you have them, and how you experience them. Because DBT focuses on skills, it’s wonderful for small group therapy. In this group, we focus on four specific skills:

  • Mindfulness - focusing on the present.

  • Distress Tolerance - learning to accept oneself and the current situation, especially during a crisis.

  • Interpersonal Effectiveness - learning how to be assertive in a relationship while still keeping the relationship positive and healthy.

  • Emotion Regulation - recognizing and coping with negative emotions.
